Who we are
BiOM (Biological Observation Monash) is a student-led team at the
intersection of Conservation and Technology. We create innovative,
accessible tools to support real-world environmental solutions.
Bringing together students from
science,
engineering and
computer science. We design and
prototype technologies for Ecological Monitoring — from
Environmental Sensors to machine learning in the field.
Our Mission
BiOM is more than just a student team. It’s a collaborative space where young conservationists build skills, form industry connections, and contribute meaningfully to environmental causes. As we grow, so too does our commitment to learning, curiosity, and action in the face of ecological challenges.
Projects
St Kilda Penguins
St Kilda Penguins Nestled along Melbourne’s coastline, this project focuses on developing compact AI-powered acoustic monitors to detect and identify penguin calls for population and health tracking.
Nillumbik Shire Project
An ongoing forest monitoring initiative using AI tools and community outreach to support conservation through research and innovation.
